Critique, Shout, Constructive, BVMW Future Day of SMEs

It’s the annual event for SMEs: On April 9, 2025, 8,000 entrepreneurs, political dignitaries and diplomatic representatives from more than 50 countries will gather in Berlin for the third time.

This year’s “Future Day of SMEs 2025”, organized by the BVMW, is particularly marked by rapid change: the end of the traffic light system and the early general election have created economic uncertainty and political stagnation.

In addition to domestic political turmoil, geopolitical developments have weighed on the economic outlook. The war in Ukraine has not only had serious humanitarian consequences, it has also severely shaken trade relations within Europe. Supply chains remain fragile. Energy prices remain high.

At the same time, the escalating situation in the Middle East has created more uncertainty. Tensions in the region endanger vital trade routes, and global markets react sensitively to each new crisis.

Despite the various crises and challenges, the Future Day of SMEs Summit aims to broaden its horizons and focus on new possibilities and opportunities. Above all, the conference provides an opportunity for dialogue: dialogue between business, as well as dialogue with political decision-makers and experts, will provide answers to pressing questions about the future.

High-level speakers from business, politics and science will present new perspectives. In interactive seminar and discussion panels, entrepreneurs can work together on solutions, establish network and share best practices.

Apart from economic development, the Future Day of SMEs will also focus on the social role of SMEs under the slogan “Value and Prosperity”.

Nowadays, how are entrepreneurs ensuring growth and social cohesion? How can SMEs continue to function as pillars of stability and engines of growth in the future? What political and social framework conditions are essential for this?

The anniversary celebration of the BVMW is a particular highlight of the biggest SME event of the year. Founded 50 years ago in Bonn, Germany’s former capital, the BVMW works to ensure that political decisions not only listen to large companies, but also take into account the views of SMEs.

Christoph Ahlhaus, Managing Director of the BVMW, said: “We are proud of the 50 years of BVMW and what we have achieved together. Our aim has always been to advocate in a critical, positive and constructive way for the framework conditions that will allow SMEs to continue to be models of success for the next 50 years.”

“Future Day” is expected to be a source of inspiration for new paths and opportunities. Entrepreneurs interested in attending the Future Day of SMEs 2025 conference as an attendee or exhibitor can find all the important information at www.zukunftstag-mittelstand.de.
