On Sept 20, the China-Germany Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Conference 2022 was held. With the theme of “Innovation Leading the Way, Smart Building the Future”, the conference was held at two main venues in Jinan and Munich online and offline, inviting experts from the science and technology sectors of the two countries to have a video chat.

The conference was hosted by the Department of Science of Shandong Province, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Shandong Sub-council, and organized by Steinbeis Germany, Jinan Science and Technology Bureau and Shandong Research Institute of Industrial Technology.

Ling Wen, vice governor of Shandong province, said in his speech that this year marked the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Germany, and the holding of the conference, which set up an important platform for the two sides to collaborate on innovation and deepen cooperation, came at a timely time and was of great significance. Shandong is a major province in population, economy and science and technology along the east coast of China. Germany is a world power in scientific and technological innovation, with an outstanding scientific spirit and artisan tradition. German manufacturing enjoys a worldwide reputation. Over the years, Shandong and Germany have achieved fruitful results in joint research and development, platform building and scientific and technological exchanges, and bilateral cooperation in high-end manufacturing, information technology, new energy, biomedicine and business is moving forward in depth. Shandong and Germany have strong industrial complementarity and many converging points, and the prospects for deepening cooperation are very broad. Shandong is willing to deepen scientific and technological cooperation with Germany in a wider range and wider areas to achieve collaborative innovation and mutual benefit and win-win results.

Eric Moskava, Director of the Steinbeis Intelligent Manufacturing Technology Transfer Center of Germany, Matthias Beller, Vice Chairman of the Leibniz Association and academician of the German National Academy of Sciences, and Harald Kuhn, director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Electronic NanoSystems, attended the conference and made presentations via video link. They expressed the belief that the conference would serve as a bridge of communication between China and Germany, allowing more Germans to understand China, and looking forward to the two sides becoming important partners in scientific, technological and industrial cooperation in the future.

Tang Bo, Director General of the Department of Science and Technology of Shandong Province, and Eric Moskava jointly inaugurated the Steinbeis (Munich, Shandong) Intelligent Manufacturing Technology Transfer Center.


Sun Bin, Member of CPC Jinan Standing Committee of and Vice Mayor of Jinan, and Zhao Shiyu, Chairman of the Management Committee of Qingdao Sino-German Ecopark, introduced the theme.

Qilu University of Technology (Shandong Academy of Sciences), Shandong Research Institute of Industrial Technology, Jinan Iron and Steel Group Co., LTD., Shandong Datu CNC Equipment Co., LTD., signed cooperation agreements with Leibniz Catalysis Research Institute, German Hozean Group, ACunity Co. Ltd., Bavarian Institute of Education and Digitization, Rhein-Koster GMBH and AIT Group, respectively.

At the meeting, Chen Xiwu, director of Jinan Science and Technology Bureau, released the first batch of 46 technologies and achievements of scientific and technological innovation cooperation with Germany, and demonstrated the docking of more than 60 institutions with German resources. Ten scientific and technological experts from China and Germany made key technical introductions.
