The Shandong China-German Innovation Center for Technological Transformation and Application was inaugurated on the morning of May 20. Yu Haitian, deputy secretary of the Municipal Committee of the CPC and mayor of Jinan, met with Harald Kuhn, director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Electronic Nanosystems, and his delegation in Shandong Building to jointly unveil the center and witness the signing of related contracts.

On behalf of Jinan Municipal Party Committee and Government, Yu Haitian welcomed the visit of Mr. Harald Kuhn and his delegation. He said that today’s Jinan had an area of over 10,000 square kilometers, a real population of over 10 million, an economic aggregate of over 1.2 trillion yuan, and a general public budget revenue of over 100 billion yuan. It has developed advantages such as extensive transportation network, vigorous scientific research and innovation, and solid industrial development foundation. Jinan was now in a critical period, an opportunity period and a golden period for accelerating high-quality development. He hoped Mr. Harald Kuhn would visit Jinan more often and promote more research institutes and cooperation projects to be implemented in Jinan. Jinan would make every effort to create a good environment and provide quality service guarantee.

Hallad Kuhn said Jinan’s industrial base, innovation strength and cultural heritage were impressive. He expressed hope that the construction of the Shandong China-German Technology Transformation and Application Innovation Center would promote further cooperation between the two sides in such fields as scientific and technological innovation and personnel training to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.

After the meeting, the People’s Government of Jinan, Fraunhofer Institute for Electronic Nanosystems, BVMW Shandong and Jinan Innovation Zone Management Committee jointly signed the Cooperation Agreement on Jointly Building the Shandong China-German Technology Transformation and Application Innovation Center. BVMW Shandong, Shandong Talent Development Group and Shandong Research Institute of Industrial Technology jointly signed the Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement on jointly building a Shandong China-German Technology Transformation and Application Innovation Center Operating Company.

Rainer Kaltschmidt, director of Fraunhofer Institute for Electronic Nanosystems, Wang Weizhong, Party Secretary and chairman of Shandong Talent Development Group, Sun Bin, Standing Committee member and Vice mayor of the CPC Municipal Committee, and Han Zhenguo, Secretary general of the Municipal Government attended the event.
